Episode 11: The Locations

As I’ve mentioned quite a few times now, there is an abundance of the same store in the same area. Despite this abundance, it can be difficult to find what you desire. Unlike the States, not every store will have the same layout or stock. In fact, many stores will have stock dependent on the location they’re in and what is popular within the area. 

 

I’ve noticed that clothing stores such as NYUNYU will have different stock despite only being a few blocks away from each other. This can make it difficult to find certain items as each store will have a different target market. This also makes it exciting to shop, though, since you’ll never know what you can find despite going into the same brand.

 

NYUNYU isn’t alone in this, Olive Youngs will do this as well, although not as extremely. Many Olive Youngs will only carry frequently bought items and brands. Olive Young Towns tend to have more variety and carry stock of brands that are more popular to foreigners. Smaller Olive Youngs vary slightly, but the majority of them will hold the same name brands as the other.

 

Shopping here can be quite overwhelming due to this. Luckily, a lot of the stores here are much smaller than they are in the States, making it slightly easier to navigate. It also makes it nice to know that if one store doesn’t have what you desire, there is a good chance the same store of a different branch will!
